Unakoti - 170km away from Agartala. There are rock-cut statues, images of Hindu Gods belonging to 11-12th century A.D., intricate and beautifully carved out. It is a place for Shaiva pilgrimage and dates back to 7th – 9th centuries. The marvelous rock carvings, murals with their primitive beauty, waterfalls. Unakoti means one less than a crore and it is said that these many rock cut carvings are available here. This is a picture collection from different sources gathered over time - none of the pictures were taken by me. This album's sole purpose is to make aware of Tripura's glorious past, Ancient Sculptures, Art & Nature. For my non-Tripura friends - you are welcome to discover this hidden beauty and centuries of History.
